Visio2002: Attribute Tag That Contains AutoCAD-Validated "%%[special character]" Is Not Converted as Custom Property (294059)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional

This article was previously published under Q294059

SYMPTOMS

When you convert an AutoCAD drawing in Microsoft Visio, the Attribute Tag in AutoCAD-validated format (for "%%[special character]") appears to be converted incorrectly as a custom property. The percentage signs are replaced by underscores.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Visio does not validate the use of %%[special character][SOME_NAME] as the Attribute Tag of the Custom Property row name (for example, Property "%%NAME" is not tolerated). Visio filters the Attribute Tags and replaces the percent signs with underscores (for example, Property "_ _NAME").

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, filter for all instances of "%%[special characters][SOME_NAME]" and transpose with "_ _ [special characters][SOME_NAME]." In this specific case, the row name becomes "Property _ _NAME."
