Visio2002: Progress Bar Stops and You Are Unable to Complete the Generation of a Web Site Map (294024)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional

This article was previously published under Q294024

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to generate a Web site map in Microsoft Visio, the progress bar in the Generate Site Map dialog box may stop progressing, and then Visio stops responding (hangs). You are unable to complete the generation of the Web site map.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if your Internet connection is disrupted during the generation process. Visio does not display a message to indicate that you have been disconnected from the network or that your Internet connection is no longer available.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, re-establish your Internet connection, and then create a new Web site map. To create a new Web site map, follow these steps:
  1. Start Visio.
  2. On the File menu, point to New, point to Web Diagram, and then click Web Site Map.
  3. In the Generate Site Map dialog box, type a Web address for a Web site that you want to map. This can be an address to an HTTP server or the path to a network server or local computer. For example, type www.msn.com or http://my server/my website. Click OK.
  4. When the generation of the Web site map is completed, click Save on the File menu.
  5. In the Save As dialog box, specify a name and location in which to save the file, and then click Save.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
