Visio2002: Web Diagram Contains Duplicate Shapes, and You Are Unable to Filter Graphic Elements (293989)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional
This article was previously published under Q293989 SYMPTOMS
If you open a Web site map in Microsoft Visio 2002 that was created in Microsoft Visio 2000, you receive the following message:
This file was created or modified by an earlier version of Visio,
or was altered without the Web Diagramming solution active. The
document data has been updated to match the diagram.
If you attempt to filter out graphic elements in the Filter window, the graphic elements are not removed as expected. If you then remove the graphic filter, all of the graphic elements are duplicated.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the master for the graphic shape in Visio 2002 is different from the master for the graphic shape in Visio 2000. This difference is by design of Visio 2002.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, follow these steps:
- Open the drawing in Visio 2002.
- Right-click the topmost element of the drawing, and then click Collapse.
- Right-click the topmost element of the drawing, and then click Expand.
- Repeat step 3 for each sub-element that needs to be expanded.
These steps remove all of the duplicated shapes and replace the Visio 2000 graphic shapes with Visio 2002 graphic shapes.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
