SYMPTOMS

When you use a Venn diagram formatted by using the Primary Colors diagram style, the blue color is repeated twice. Rather than eight different colors you just get seven. The color purple is missing.

WORKAROUND

You can override the automatic formatting functionality of the diagram style by turning off the Use AutoFormat option for the diagram. To do this, with the right mouse button, click an empty portion of the diagram and then click Use AutoFormat on the menu that appears.

When the automatic formatting feature is turned off, you can change the color of any of the shapes by simply selecting the shape and formatting it like any other AutoShape. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click the shape.
  2. On the Format menu, click AutoShape.
  3. Click the Colors and Lines tab. In the Fill section, in the Color list, select the color you want. In the Line section, in the Color list, select the color you want.
  4. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
