Clip2002: "Results Should Be" Box Does Not Display Actual Media File Selections (293306)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Clip Organizer 2002

This article was previously published under Q293306

SYMPTOMS

In the Search pane, if you click to clear all of the media-type check boxes except one in the Results should be box (for example, Sounds), the Results should be box returns Multiple media file types instead of Sounds.

Similarly, if you clear all media type check boxes except for one specific media file type (for example, Wave Sound), the Results should be box returns Multiple media file types instead of Wave Sound.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Results should be box in the Clip Organizer Search pane can return only the following three possible text strings:

All media file types
Multiple media file types
Select media file types

All media file types is returned if all of the check boxes are selected.

Multiple media file types is returned if at least one but not all of the check boxes are selected.

Select media file types is returned when none of the check boxes are selected.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, if the Results should be box in the Clip Organizer Search pane contains Multiple media file types, click the arrow in the Results should be box and note which check boxes are selected.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
