OL2002: Previous Connection Is Used When You Try to Send Mail or Synchronize the Inbox (293063)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Dial-Up Networking through Outlook 2002 to establish a remote access server (RAS) connection and you then click Send after working offline, Outlook uses previous dial-up connection settings, even though you select a current connection. However, if you disconnect and then click Send All, the message is sent through the correct RAS connection.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, on the Connection tab, make a change that enables the Apply button so you can apply the new settings:
  1. In Control Panel, double-click Mail, and then click E-mail Accounts.
  2. Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
  3. Click the e-mail account name, and then click Change.
  4. Click More Settings, and then click the Connection tab.
  5. Click Connect using my phone line, and then click Apply.

    If that option is already selected, click another option and then click Connect using my phone line again to enable the Apply button.
  6. Click Next to finish the wizard, and then try again to send the message.
