How to insert a .pdf file in a slide To insert a .pdf file or parts of a .pdf file to
PowerPoint, use one of the following methods depending on your version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Adobe Reader version 6.xTo copy any range of text, such as part of a page, a whole page, or the whole .pdf file from the .pdf file to PowerPoint, follow these steps: - Open the .pdf file in Adobe Reader.
- On the Tools menu, select to display the Basic submenu, and then click Select Text.
- Select all the text in the .pdf file that you want to copy. Or, click Select All on the Edit menu to select all the contents of the file. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Switch to PowerPoint, click the location where you want to paste the text, and then on the Edit menu, click Paste.
To copy a graphic from the file, follow these steps: - Open the .pdf file in Adobe Reader.
- On the Tools menu, select to display the Basic submenu, and then click Select Image.
- Locate the graphic that you want to copy.
- Right-click the graphic, and then click Copy Image to Clipboard.
- Switch to PowerPoint. Click the location where you want to paste the image, and then on the Edit menu, click Paste.

Acrobat Reader version 5.xTo copy text from a .pdf file, follow these steps.
Note Text formatting may be lost when you paste the text in another file. - Open the .pdf file in Adobe Acrobat Reader, and then on the File menu, click Export Document to Text.
- Specify a name and location for the text file, and then click Save.
- Switch to PowerPoint, and then on the File menu, click Open.
- Locate the text file that was saved, select the file, and then choose Open.
To choose the text that you want to copy, such as part of a page, a whole page, or the whole .pdf file from the .pdf file to PowerPoint, follow these steps: - Open the .pdf file in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Click the Text Select tool.
- Select all the text in the .pdf file that you want to copy, or click Select All on the Edit menu to select all the contents of the file.Then, click Copy on the Edit menu.
- Switch to PowerPoint, click the location where you want to paste the text, and then on the Edit menu, click Paste.
To copy a graphic from the file, follow these steps: - Open the .pdf file in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Click the graphics select tool.
- Select the graphic that you want to copy, and then on the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Switch to PowerPoint, click the location where you want to paste the image, and then on the Edit menu, click Paste.

Acrobat Reader version 4.xTo copy a page of the .pdf file to PowerPoint, follow these steps:
- Open the .pdf file in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Find the page that you want to copy.
- On the Basic Tools toolbar, click Text Select Tool .
- On the Edit menu, click Select All.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Switch to PowerPoint, and then on the Edit menu, click Paste.
To copy the whole .pdf file to PowerPoint, follow these steps:
- Open the .pdf file in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- On the View menu, click Continuous.
- On the Edit menu, click Select All.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Switch to PowerPoint, and then on the Edit menu, click Paste.
To copy graphics, follow these steps:
- Open the .pdf file in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Press SHIFT, and then click Text Select Tool .
- Without releasing the mouse, click Graphic Select Tool on the toolbar that appears.
- When the insertion point changes to a cross-hair icon, draw a rectangle around the graphic.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- Switch to PowerPoint. Then, on the Edit menu, click Paste.
To determine whether you can copy text, follow these steps:
- On the File menu, point to Document Info, and then click Security.
- If the Selecting Text and Graphics option is set to "Allowed ," you can copy the text and the graphics and then paste the selection in another program.
Note Text that you pasted from Adobe Acrobat retains character-level
formatting, such as: fonts, bolded text, italic, underlines, and colors. Text does
not retain graphics, paragraph formatting, and other formatting options when you copy text to the Clipboard.
