"Bad Command Structure" Error Message Occurs When You Extract Files from a Compressed Folder (291779)

When you attempt to extract files from a compressed folder, you may receive the following error message:
Compressed (zipped) folders was unable to create the specified directory. Ensure that the directory does not already exist, and that the path entered is valid.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if you do not type an explicit path when you type a folder name in the Files will be extracted to this directory box. For example, this issue can occur if you type test instead of c:\test.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, type the complete path to the location that you want the files to be extracted to.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
