FIX: ServerNet II Library Does Not Display if Giganet Driver is Not Available (291277)

SYMPTOMS

The SQL Server Network Utility and SQL Server Client Network Utility may fail to list the ServerNet II Network Library if the Giganet driver is not present on the system. If both the Giganet and ServerNet II drivers are present the VIA protocol may be listed twice.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.

MORE INFORMATION

Please note that per the VIA specification both the ServerNet and Giganet drivers have the same names. Only the Giganet drivers are shipped with the product.
