Limitations of the Journal Feature in Outlook 2001 for Mac

In Outlook 2001 for Mac, you can activate the Journal folder in the Folder List that is provided to view items that were already created by using a Microsoft Outlook for Windows client. In addition, there is not an option to create new Journal items.

How to Activate the Journal Feature in the Folder List

When you use Outlook 2001 for Mac, it may appear that the Journal folder is missing or non-existent in the Folder List. The option to display the Journal folder is off by default. Use the following steps to turn on the Journal folder:
  1. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  2. In the Microsoft Outlook, click General.
  3. Click Show folders containing Journal items, and then click OK.
  4. Quit and then restart Outlook 2001 for Mac.

Preview Pane Is Unavailable in Journal Folder

If you use the Journal folder in Outlook 2001 for Mac and you click Preview Pane on the View menu, the view is not divided as it is in Outlook for Windows.
