NetMeeting 3.01 May Stop Responding When You use Pluggable Transport (291055)

SYMPTOMS

When you use NetMeeting version 3.01 (Conf.exe) that is included with Windows 2000, NetMeeting may stop responding when you use Pluggable Transport.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because a null pointer is referenced in Mst123.dll.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.

This is a hotfix is specifically for Windows 2000-based computers because a NetMeeting service pack is not available for Windows 2000-based computers. This problem is fixed in NetMeeting Service Pack 2 (SP2), which is available for other Windows operating systems.
