FIX: DTSRun.exe Causes Access Violation on SMP Computers (290644)

SYMPTOMS

The DTSRun.exe utility may cause an access violation (AV) when a Data Transformation Services (DTS) package is executed with the following conditions:
  • The DTS package is executed on a SMP computer with a minimum of four processors.
  • The DTS package has multiple steps that are run concurrently.
  • The steps share a single connection.
  • Two or more of these steps complete at exactly the same time.
The Windows NT Application log will contain an entry similar to the following:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1.
