OL2002: You Cannot Change the Font Style or the Font Size of Text from Word (290565)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q290565

SYMPTOMS

You cannot change either the font style or the font size of text that you copy from Microsoft Word and paste to a new Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) message in Outlook 2002.

NOTE: If you select only part of the paragraph, you can change the font style and size.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because you did not copy the paragraph mark at the end of the text from Word. In Word, the paragraph mark contains paragraph-level formatting, which may include font information.

RESOLUTION

Use one of the following methods to resolve this problem:
  • Use Microsoft Outlook Rich Text as your default message format.
  • Use Word as your e-mail editor.
  • Use the cut and paste method to paste a paragraph from Word to an HTML message. To do this:
    1. Click the Show/Hide button on the Word Standard toolbar to display the paragraph mark.
    2. Select the text and include the paragraph mark.
    3. Copy the text, open a new HTML message in Outlook, and then paste the text into the new message.
    4. Select the entire paragraph, including the extra space at the end.
    5. Select a new font style or size for the paragraph.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
