TCP/IP Stack Sends an IP Header Include Packet with IPID Being Zero but Overwrites Non-Zero IPID That You Supply (290308)

SYMPTOMS

When you send a packet with the IP Header Include option turned on and set the IPID to zero (0) in the IP header, the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) stack sends the packet without generating a new IPID and overwriting the zero value with the new IPID. If you set the IPID to a non-zero value, the stack generates a new IPID, overwrites the value that you supplied, and then sends the packet with the generated IPID.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.

This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
