BUG: Internet Explorer Is Unable to Open Site as a Web Folder (290227)

When you open a Web site as a Web Folder in Internet Explorer, or when you use the OLE DB Provider for Internet Publishing (MSDAIPP) from code, you may receive an application error message similar to the following:
Internet Explorer could not open http://server/path as a Web Folder. Would you like to see its default view instead?
This may occur even though the server is functioning correctly and the client has successfully connected to the folder.
CAUSE
If the client is configured by a group policy to use Windows Folder Redirection for the Application Data folder, and the Application Data folder is redirected to a network share on which the MSDAIPP cache folder does not exist, the provider cannot create the Application Data folder, and fails to open the Web Folder.
RESOLUTION
To resolve the problem, use one of the following methods: - Map a drive letter to the network location, and then redirect the Application Data folder to this drive letter.
- Manually create the MSDAIPP folder at the Application Data location, as follows:
\\[servername]\[share]\[username]\Application Data\Microsoft\MSDAIPP - Make sure that you do not redirect the Application Data folder to a network location.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in both Internet Explorer and OLE DB Provider.
