SYMPTOMS

If you have installed more than one language version of Microsoft Office XP Developer on your computer, you may not be able to remove one of them. When you try to remove a version of Office XP Developer, you receive the following error message:
Setup Failed.

CAUSE

Microsoft does not support the installation of more than one language edition of Office XP Developer on a single computer.

RESOLUTION

If you have installed more than one language version, follow these steps to remove the multiple installations. Then, reinstall the language version that you want to use.

IMPORTANT: Before you follow these steps, make sure that you move any data files that you want to keep from the folder where you have Office XP Developer installed to another folder.
  1. After you have made sure that the folder where you have Office XP Developer installed does not have any data files that you want to keep, delete all the files from this folder.

By default, Office XP Developer is installed into the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Developer folder.
  2. Delete all shortcuts to Office XP Developer on the Start menu.
  3. Insert the Office XP Developer CD for the language version that you want to use, and then start the Setup program.
  4. In the first dialog box, click Update Office XP Developer.
  5. In the Maintenance dialog box, click Repair/Reinstall.
After you have finished these steps, you will have only one working version of Office XP Developer on your computer. These steps do not remove any files from other folders or remove any registry entries.
