OL2002: Only Two Months of Outlook 98 Free and Busy Data Appear When Outlook 2002 Delegate Publishes (290028)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q290028

SYMPTOMS

When an Outlook delegate that uses Outlook 2002 creates an appointment and publishes free and busy data on behalf of an Outlook 98 user, Outlook 2002 may show hash marks (no free and busy information) after the first two months from the current date. When the user publishes the free and busy data with Outlook 2002, the hash marks go away and the data is displayed correctly.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, upgrade the Outlook 98 user to Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2002 (Office XP).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Outlook 98, Outlook 2000, and Outlook 2002 all allow you to control how far in the future to publish free and busy information. However, when a person who is running Outlook 2002 creates a recurring appointment as a delegate for someone who runs Outlook 98, only two months of data are published. If the Outlook 98 user creates a recurring appointment for more than two months, all of the free and busy information is available to anyone who invites that user. This does not happen if everyone is running Outlook 2000 or later.
