OL2002: Meeting Request Sent from Exchange 2000 Server to Exchange Server 5.0 Arrives as Body of an E-mail (290015)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2002

This article was previously published under Q290015

SYMPTOMS

When your mailbox resides on a computer that runs Exchange 2000 Server and you send a meeting request to someone whose mailbox resides on a computer that runs Exchange Server 5.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2), the other person receives the information not as a meeting request but as the body of an e-mail message.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the recipient does not have Rich Text Format (RTF) specified for messages. The Exchange Server 5.0 computer cannot interpret the message format and just shows the calendar source information.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, configure the recipient's mail as RTF:
  1. Click the Tools menu, and then click Options.
  2. Click Mail Format, and then click Microsoft Outlook Rich Text under Send message in this format.
  3. Click OK.
