OL2002: Exporting Recurring Task Items Marked as Complete Creates Duplicate Tasks (290006)

SYMPTOMS

When your Tasks folder in Outlook has many recurring tasks that are completed and you export these tasks to Microsoft Excel, each completed task is also treated as a recurring task when you import the Task folder from Excel. This behavior creates a very large number of recurring tasks.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, export to a Personal Folder (.pst) file:
  1. In Outlook 2002, on the File menu, click Import and Export.
  2. Click Export to a file, and then click Next.
  3. Click Personal Folder File (*.pst), and then click Next.
  4. Click Tasks, and then click OK.
  5. Click Finish.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
