Word 98 Macintosh Edition

With Microsoft Word for the Macintosh there are two ways to import EPS, TIFF, GIF, JPEG, BMP, WMF and PICT graphics into a Word document:

  • On the Insert menu, click Picture. Select a graphic formatted as EPS, TIFF, GIF, JPEG, BMP, WMF or PICT.

    NOTE: The appropriate converter must be installed in the Graphic Filters Folder in order to use this method. -or-

  • Copy a graphic onto the Clipboard from a graphics program or from the Scrapbook, then paste that graphic into the Word document by choosing Paste from the Edit menu.

Word Version 6.0 and 6.0.1

With Microsoft Word for the Macintosh there are two ways to import EPS, TIFF, BMP, WMF, WPG and PICT graphics into a Word document:

  • On the Insert menu, click Picture. Select a graphic formatted as EPS, TIFF, BMP, WMF, WPG or PICT.

    NOTE: The appropriate converter must be installed in the Microsoft or Word Extensions Folder in order to use this method. -or-

  • Copy a graphic onto the Clipboard from a graphics program or from the Scrapbook, then paste that graphic into the Word document by choosing Paste from the Edit menu.

Word versions 5.0 and 5.1

With Microsoft Word for the Macintosh there are two ways to import EPS, TIFF and PICT graphics into a Word document:

  • On the Insert menu, click Picture. Select a graphic formatted as EPS, TIFF or PICT.

    NOTE: The EPS/TIFF/PICT converter must be installed in the Word Commands Folder in order to use this method. -or-

  • Copy a graphic onto the Clipboard from a graphics application or from the Scrapbook, then paste that graphic into the Word document by choosing Paste from the Edit menu.

Word Versions 4.0 and 3.x

Only graphics copied to the Clipboard and Scrapbook can be exported to Microsoft Word versions 4.0 and 3.x. This procedure generally pertains to PICT and bitmapped graphics. However, these graphics can contain embedded PostScript information.

Word does not interpret embedded PostScript (and the PostScript code you manually type in). PostScript only affects a graphic when it is printed on a PostScript printer, such as a LaserWriter. The printer driver, not the Word program, interprets the PostScript code.

TIFF graphics and encapsulated PostScript (EPS) cannot be directly copied into versions of Word earlier than 5.0.
