OL98: Organization Forms Library Forms Open Slowly on WAN Links (288920)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 98

This article was previously published under Q288920

SYMPTOMS

When you open a large form from the Organization Forms Library across a WAN (Wide Area Network), you may experience a significant delay before the form is opens.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because a large amount of information is transmitted from the client back to the server when you open a form. This transfer occurs even if the form is loaded into the client's local form cache. If both the client and the server are connected through a WAN, this can introduce a significant delay when forms are opened.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article.
