To remove an investment from Money, first delete the ticker symbol, and then delete the security.

Delete the ticker symbol

To delete the ticker symbol, use the appropriate method for your version of Money.

Microsoft Money 2005 and later versions

  1. In Money, click Investing on the Money navigation bar.
  2. On the left under My Investing Tools, click Portfolio Manager. Or, click Investing Tools across the top, and then click Portfolio Manager.
  3. In the Portfolio, right-click the investment from which you want to remove the symbol, and then click Investment Details.
  4. On the Investment Details page, delete the symbol in the Symbol box.
  5. Click Done.

Microsoft Money 2000 through Microsoft Money 2004

  1. In Money, click Investing on the Money navigation bar, and then click Portfolio.
  2. In the left pane, under Common Tasks, click Work with investments, and then click Choose a specific investment.
  3. Click the name of the investment from which you want to remove the symbol.
  4. In the left pane, under View, click Details.
  5. On the investment details page, delete the symbol in the Symbol box.
  6. Click Done.

Delete the security

To delete the security, use the appropriate method for your version of Money.

Note Money does not allow you to delete an investment if you own any units of that investment. You must sell all the units of the holding, or delete the original purchase transactions before you can delete the investment.

Microsoft Money 2005 and Microsoft Money 2006

  1. On the Money navigation bar, click Investing.
  2. On the left under My Investing Tools, click Portfolio Manager. Or, click Investing Tools across the top, and then click Portfolio Manager.
  3. In the left pane, under Common Tasks, click Work with investments, and then click Delete an investment from all accounts.
  4. Click the name of the investment that you want to delete.
  5. Click OK.

Microsoft Money 2000 through Microsoft Money 2004

  1. On the Money navigation bar, click Investing, and then click Portfolio.
  2. In the left pane under Common Tasks, click Work with investments, and then click Delete an investment.
  3. Click the name of the investment that you want to delete.
  4. Click OK.
