BUG: Drag-and-drop operation from a Web folder to Explorer produces a 0-byte file (288440)

When you use Microsoft Windows 2000 or a workstation with Office 2000 Service Release 1 or later, and you drag an item out of a Web folder onto the desktop or into Windows Explorer, the file may appear in the target location but may have lost its content so that the file size is 0 bytes.
CAUSE
The problem only occurs if the Web folder uses Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) for the file transfer and the server issues a 302 redirection when it is asked for the file contents. The problem is specific to the version of the WebDAV protocol handler that ships in build 8.103.2402 of the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Internet Publishing (MSDAIPP.DLL). No other build has this problem.

The problem does not normally occur with Internet Information Services (IIS) version 5.0 WebDAV servers, but has been reported with Apache WebDAV servers. This is because IIS normally adds a "Cache-Control: no-cache" header to the HTTP response when it handles a 302 redirection from a WebDAV request. The presence of this header can prevent the problem in most cases. However, Microsoft has received reports that this header does not prevent the problem for all versions of Internet Explorer; therefore, the addition of this header is not considered a viable workaround.
