XADM: You May Be Unable to Add a Second Virtual Server to a SMTP or POP3 or IMAP4 Virtual Server (288159)

When you attempt to add a second virtual server and select another Internet Protocol (IP) address on a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3), or Internet Message Access Protocol 4 (IMAP4) virtual server that is on a cluster, you may be unsuccessful. The IP addresses are not displayed as a selection.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the IP address selection is based upon the returned IP addresses from Domain Name System (DNS), and the host look-up name that is displayed in the Exchange System Manager (ESM) snap-in.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, for each IP address that you want to use for that virtual server, enter a corresponding host entry (the A resource record). Then, enter the correct entries in DNS and restart the ESM. When you access the virtual server, the selections are available.
Also, you must create one virtual server protocol resource in the Cluster Administrator tool for each virtual server instance that is displayed in the ESM. For example, if you have two SMTP virtual servers in ESM, you need two SMTP virtual server resources in Cluster Administrator.
