PRB: Site Server Membership Groups Do Not Match Windows NT Groups (287953)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Site Server 3.0

This article was previously published under Q287953

SYMPTOMS

When a user creates a group inside of Site Server Membership, a corresponding group is created in Microsoft Windows NT in the format "Site_<root name>_<group name>". However, if the total number of groups exceeds 500, groups that are created in Site Server do not have a corresponding group inside of Windows NT.

WORKAROUND

If you have more than 500 Site Server Membership groups, and if there is a discrepancy between the number of Site Server Membership groups and the number of Windows NT groups, use the following steps to synchronize them:
  1. On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Site Server, point to Administration, and then click Site Server Service Admin (MMC).
  2. Click to expand the Personalization and Membership nodes.
  3. Right-click LDAP Server, and then click Properties.
  4. On the General tab, in the Max query time box, type 0. Under Max results, click Unlimited.
  5. At a command prompt, type net stop broksvc to stop the Site Server Authentication Service.
  6. At a command prompt, type net start broksvc to start the Site Server Authentication Service.
