SUMMARY

This article describes how to add icons for files that are displayed in the dashboard site.

MORE INFORMATION

If a document that does not have an Index Filter (IFilter) associated with it is displayed in the dashboard site in either a folder listing in the Document Library or in search results, the document is displayed with a generic file-type icon. This issue also occurs when you index files that use a third-party or custom IFilter, including the Adobe Acrobat IFilter that is available at the Adobe Web site.

You can add icons to the dashboard site so that these file types are displayed with an icon. To add the icon, save a Graphics Interchange Format (.gif) file that contains the image that you want to use to the Portal/Resources/DocumentTypeIcons folder in your workspace. Name the file "file extension16.gif". For example, an image for .xyz files is named "xyz16.gif".

NOTE: The Portal/Resources/DocumentTypeIconsfolder is a hidden folder in the workspace.

After you refresh the dashboard site, the icon is displayed when a file that has that extension is displayed in the Document Library folder listings or in search results.
