OL2002: (CIW) Error Message When You Download an Address Book (287062)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Outlook 2002, you may receive the following error message:
Memory could not be allocated" when trying to download the Offline Address Book

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you deploy Outlook 2002 with the Custom Installation Wizard (CIW) and you click to select the Enable Offline Use in More Settings for the Exchange Server option in screen 17, but you have not specified the path for the Offline Address Book.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, specify a pathname when you deploy Outlook. After Outlook has been installed, reconfigure your offline settings.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
