WD2002: Document Version Information Unavailable (286975)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to check the version information of a Word 2002 document, the information is unavailable.

CAUSE

If the Make local copy of files stored on network or removable drives feature is turned on, the document version information is unavailable.

WORKAROUND

To avoid this situation, turn off the Make local copy of files stored on network or removable drives feature. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. In the Options dialog box, click the Save tab.
  3. Click to clear the Make local copy of files stored on network or removable drives check box.
  4. Click OK.
NOTE: This feature is turned off by default.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
