  • Microsoft Word 2002

This article was previously published under Q286893

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to reject a style or a formatting change in your document in the Review AutoFormat Changes dialog box or on the Reviewing toolbar, the changes in your document are not rejected as expected.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the Track Changes feature is not selected. When Track Changes is selected on the Tools menu, all changes in your document appear as tracked changes and can be reviewed or rejected.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, turn on the Track Changes feature before making style or formatting changes to the document. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft Word.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Track Changes.

NOTE: When change tracking is active, TRK appears in the status section below the document window.
When change tracking is turned on, you can reject or accept changes in the document by using the buttons on the Reviewing toolbar.

NOTE: If the Reviewing toolbar is not visible, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Customize.
  2. In the Customize dialog box, on the Toolbars tab, click to select the Reviewing check box, and then click Close.
