WD2002: Text Does Not Appear in Document After You Switch from Voice Command to Dictation Mode (286882)

SYMPTOMS

When you switch from Voice Command mode to Dictation mode, words that you speak no longer appear in your document.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs in the following situation:
  • You use a voice command to open a menu (you say "File").

    -and-
  • You use a voice command to cancel that command (you say "Cancel" or "Escape").

    -and-
  • You use a voice command to switch to Dictation mode (you say "Dictation").

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods:

Method 1

Click anywhere in the document to place the insertion point in the document window. Text that you have dictated will now appear.

Method 2

To cancel a voice command and return the insertion point to the document window, say "Cancel" twice or say "Escape" twice.

MORE INFORMATION

When you use Voice Command mode, the following occurs:
  1. The insertion point is removed from the document window while the spoken commands are carried out.
  2. If you say "Cancel" or "Escape," the previously spoken command is cancelled.
  3. If you say "Cancel" a second time or if you say "Escape" a second time, the insertion point is placed back in the document window.
