Windows Media Player GUID Logged by Windows Media Services When Unique Identify Is Disabled (285864)

The Windows Media Services log files may contain a large number of player Global Unique Identifiers (GUIDs) in the c-playerid field that begin with {3300AD50-2C39-46c0-AE0A. The end of the GUID varies per connection.
CAUSE
In Windows Media Player 7 and 7.1, you can disable the option to be identified uniquely when connecting to Windows Media servers. You can enable this in the Windows Media Player by doing the following:
- On the Tools menu, click Options....
- Click the Player tab.
- In the Internet Settings section, click to uncheck the Allow Internet sites to uniquely identify your player check box.
