PPT2002: Slide Show Options Different for HTML Presentations (285524)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2002

This article was previously published under Q285524

SYMPTOMS

When you save a PowerPoint presentation as a Web Archive, and then view the slide show with an Internet browser, the Go, Meeting Minder, Speaker Notes, Pointer Options, Screen, and Help commands are missing from the shortcut menu. These commands are available in a PowerPoint slide show.

There may be other differences with the slide show, including the following:
  • The shortcut menu is available although Popup menu on right mouse-click is not selected.
  • The pop-up menu button doesn't appear in the lower left corner, although Show popup menu button is selected.
  • The slide show ends with a black slide, although End with black slide was not selected.

CAUSE

This behavior is expected because the Web Archive version of the slide show trades some functionality for the ability of showing slides on different browsers, and on computers without PowerPoint. The settings on the View tab of the Options dialog box for slides are only for PowerPoint slide shows.

MORE INFORMATION

The Web Archive shortcut menu is visible when you right-click anywhere on the screen during presentation. The shortcut menu has three commands:
  • Next
  • Previous
  • End Show
The PowerPoint slide show shortcut menu has the following additional commands:
  • Go
  • Meeting Minder
  • Speaker Notes
  • Pointer Options
  • Screen
  • Help
All of the extra commands available in the PowerPoint slide show use features that are available only with PowerPoint installed.

To view the Web Archive options, click the Web Options button on the General tab of the Options dialog box.
