PPT2002: Can't Set Web Site as Location in Which to Save Online Broadcast Files (285482)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
This article was previously published under Q285482 SYMPTOMS When you attempt specify a Web location (HTTP or FTP
protocol) for the Save Broadcast Files in setting in the Broadcast Settings dialog box while you are setting up either a live or recorded
Microsoft PowerPoint Online Broadcast, you receive one of the following error
messages: The path or file name for
http://servername/sharename is invalid. Please check
that the path and file name are correct. 'http://servername/sharename' is not a
shared directory. A shared directory should be in the form of
'\\servername\sharename'. CAUSE This behavior occurs because PowerPoint can't save online
broadcast files to an FTP or HTTP location. The online broadcast files can be
saved locally or to a file server on the network. RESOLUTION To resolve this issue, specify a shared folder using the
Universal Naming Convention (UNC), or
\\servername\sharename. STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
