This article was previously published under Q285429

SYMPTOMS

When you drag a text selection to another position on a Microsoft PowerPoint slide, and then use the Undo Clear command (your only "undo" option on the Edit menu in this scenario), the text selection is not returned to its original location as expected.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you move the entire contents of a text box.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue and undo the text-move action, follow these steps:
  1. On the Edit menu, click Undo Clear.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Undo Drag and Drop.

MORE INFORMATION

When the entire contents of a text box are moved, the text box is cleared from the slide.

When you click Undo Clear on the Edit menu, the previously cleared text box is replaced.

When you click Undo Drag and Drop on the Edit menu, the moved text is returned to its original position in the replaced text box.
