SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to preview some animation effects in a slide, Microsoft PowerPoint stops responding.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when all of the following conditions are true:
  • A Matrox Millennium G400 graphics adapter is installed. -and-

  • The display colors are set to either High Color (16 bit) or True Color (32 bit).

WORKAROUND

An updated video driver may resolve this problem in the future. Please check with your hardware vendor concerning the latest driver available for your video display adapter.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
