PUB2002: Next Page and Previous Page Voice Commands Don't Work (285383)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 2002

This article was previously published under Q285383

SYMPTOMS

When you use voice commands to select the next page or previous page of your multi-page publication, the expected page does not appear. Instead, the following behavior occurs:
  • When you say "Next Page," the words "Next Page" appear in the Speech balloon on the Language bar and the current page scrolls to the right in the document window.
  • When you say "Previous Page," the words "Previous Page" appear in the Speech balloon on the Language bar and the current page scrolls to the left in the document window.

WORKAROUND

Use the following set of voice commands to change pages:
  1. Say "Edit."
  2. Say "Go To Page."
  3. Say "Dictation."
  4. Say "Forcenum pagenumber" where pagenumber is the page number you want to navigate to.
    For example, say "Forcenum two."

NOTE: Forcenum is short for Force Numbering. This forces dictation to write a numeric character instead of writing out what you say.
  5. Say "Voice Command."
  6. Say "OK."

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
