ACC2002: Cannot Create Group Above a Section on a Data Access Page (285330)

This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).

SYMPTOMS

If you use the right mouse button to drag a table from the field list to the data access page, and you try to add the table above another section that has a caption, all of the choices on the shortcut menu are unavailable, and you cannot add the table.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:
  • Although you cannot right-click and drag a table into a section above a captioned section, you can right-click and drag a field. After the new section is created, you can add the remaining fields from the table.

    -or-
  • Click the left mouse button, and then drag the table into the section above the captioned section.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Create a new data access page in Design View.
  2. Right-click and drag the Orders table from the field list to the page, and add it in Tabular format.
  3. Right-click and drag the Customers table from the field list into the section above the Orders caption section.
Note that all items on the shortcut menu are unavailable.
