Dr. Watson Error Message Is Displayed When Entering Credentials on Web Page (283834)

SYMPTOMS

When you enter your credentials onto a Web page, you may receive the following Dr. Watson error message:
Application exception occurred:
App: exe\iexplore.dbg (pid=267)
When: 11/21/2000 @ 14:29:6.673
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you use a .pac file for automatic configuration and the Include all sites that bypass the proxy server option.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, you must not use the Include all sites that bypass the proxy server setting option. To do so, you must perform the following steps:
  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. Go to the Tools or View menu, depending on your version of Internet Explorer.
  3. Click Internet Options.
  4. Click Security settings.
  5. Click Local Intranet.
  6. Click Sites.
  7. Click to clear the Include all sites that bypass the proxy server check box.
