MORE INFORMATION

You can remove your local file and have a new one created based upon data that is stored on MSN Money in a Microsoft data center. To find the location and the name of your local file, follow these steps:
  1. Start Portfolio Manager.
  2. In the Other Tasks section, click More, and then click About Portfolio Manager.
  3. Record the path and the name of the file.
To re-create the local file by using data from MSN Money's servers, follow these steps:
  1. Quit MSN Money Investing, if it is running.
  2. Locate your local data files or use Microsoft Windows Find (Search) options to find the local file. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, point to Find (in Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2000, or Windows Millennium Edition, point to Search), and then click Files or Folders.
    2. In the Named box, type the name of the file--for example, My Portfolio3.mny. Or you can do a general search for .mny files.
    3. After you find the file or files, select all the files, and then temporarily move (drag) the files to the desktop or to a folder on the desktop.

Note A simple way to store files on the desktop is to have a folder on the desktop that is labeled Storage.
  3. Start MSN Money Investing, and then click Portfolio.
The Welcome page appears and the data from the server is downloaded into a new local file.

If you want to start over, delete all the accounts. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Portfolio Manager.
  2. In the Common tasks section, click Work with accounts.
  3. Click Delete an Account.
  4. Repeat this for all accounts that you want to remove.
Note You must make sure that Watch Accounts shows. To do this, click Common Tasks, click Change portfolio view, and then make sure that Show Watch Accounts is selected.
