The .cab Files Are Not Displayed in the Folders List in Windows Explorer (283622)

SYMPTOMS

The .cab files are not always displayed in a folders list in Windows Explorer.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you click the plus sign (+) next to a folder to expand it. The .cab files in that folder are not displayed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, you must press F5 to update the folders window, and then click on the folder name to expand it. The .cab files should now be displayed under the folder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
