Cannot Join Star Wars Episode One Racer Version 1.0 Multiple-Player Game (283300)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to join a Star Wars Episode One Racer version 1.0 multi-player game, you may be unable to do so. Users that try to join a game you are hosting may not be able to see your computer, or you may not be able to see an available game that is hosted on your local network.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if your Windows XP-based computer does not have the IPX/SPX protocol. To use the multiple-player features of Star Wars Episode One Racer version 1.0, IPX/SPX must be installed on your computer, but by default, IPX/SPX is not installed by Windows XP.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install IPX/SPX:
  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.
  2. Right-Click on the connection that you are using to play the game (typcially the "Local Area Connection"), and then click Properties.
  3. Click OK, click Close, and then restart your computer.
