Error Message: A Replacement Token Entered Does Not Match Any Recognized Token (283119)

SYMPTOMS

When you add either a CRL distribution point path or an AIA path to the X.509 extensions tab in the Certificate Services properties box by using the tokens described in the Windows 2000 Help file, you may receive the following message:
Error

A replacement token entered does not match any recognized tokens.

CAUSE

This issue can occur because the Windows 2000 Help file was not updated when the tokens were changed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the revised tokens. The correct token definitions are as follows:

  • Old token: %1
    New token: %SERVER_DNS_NAME%
    Definition: The DNS name of the certification authority server.
  • Old token: %2
    New token: %SERVER_SHORT_NAME%
    Definition: The NetBIOS name of the certification authority server.
  • Old token: %3
    New token: %CA_NAME%
    Definition: The name of the certification authority.
  • Old token: %4
    New token: %CERT_SUFFIX%
    Definition: The renewal extension of the certification authority.
  • Old token: %5
    New token: %DOMAIN_NAME%
    Definition: The location of the domain root in Active Directory.
  • Old token: %6
    New token: %CONFIG_NAME%
    Definition: The location of the configuration container in Active Directory.
  • Old token: %7
    New token: %CA_NAME_HASH%
    Definition: The "sanitized" name of the certification authority, 32 characters with hash on end.
  • Old token: %8
    New token: %CRL _SUFFIX%
    Definition: The renewal extension for the certificate revocation list.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Windows 2000 Help file.
