This article was previously published under Q282366 Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.
This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).
SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Access, the borders of the controls on a data access page may not be affected by Special Effects (border style) settings. You may notice this behavior when you work with rectangles or labels.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs if you set the border color to black. After you do so, changes in the shading of border elements required for various border style settings are not implemented.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, change the setting of the BorderColor property to any color other than black. To do so, follow these steps:
- Open the data access page in Design view.
- On the View menu, click Properties if the Property dialog box is not already visible.
- On the Format tab, change the BorderColor property.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
