SYMPTOMS

When you use Web Links to add custom Internet Explorer bars to Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK) on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition, or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), some of the elements may not be displayed immediately.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the registry key that is associated with Internet Explorer bars was not dynamically refreshed.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To resolve this issue:
  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
  2. Locate and click the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Bar\Panes

  3. Click Refresh on the View menu, or press the F5 key to refresh this registry key.
  4. Quit Registry Editor.
  5. Click the Retrieve button in IEAK to update the list of elements.
