SYMPTOMS

When Event 20048 is recorded in the System Event Log after a RAS disconnect request, the byte count values when a user requests the disconnect are different from the values when an administrator forces the disconnect.

When an administrator forces the RAS disconnect, the Event Description shows the byte count similar to the following:

The user domain\username connected on port VPN4-127 on 11/17/2000 at 03:21pm and disconnected on 11/17/2000 at 03:22pm. The user was active for 0 minutes 17 seconds. 631 bytes were sent and 3495 bytes were received. The port speed was 10000000.
The reason for disconnecting was administrator's request.

When a user requests the RAS disconnect, the Event Description shows the bytes sent and received with a "0" value:

The user domain\username connected on port VPN4-127 on 11/17/2000 at 03:20pm and disconnected on 11/17/2000 at 03:21pm. The user was active for 0 minutes 51 seconds. 0 bytes were sent and 0 bytes were received. The port speed was 10000000.
The reason for disconnecting was user request.
