Cluster Configure Application Wizard Does Not Recognize Existing IP Addresses (282006)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server

This article was previously published under Q282006

SYMPTOMS

If there is a pre-existing IP address resource, but no Network Name resource in a group, when you run the Configure Application Wizard, you receive the following error message:
An error occurred attempting to set private properties on the <GroupName>
The Cluster IP Address is already in use.
Error ID: 5057 (000013c1)
Your only option is to create a new IP address resource with a different IP address.

RESOLUTION

The Configure Application Wizard is designed to create an IP address resource to use in association with a Network Name resource. It does not give you the ability to use an existing IP resource.

You can either use the Configure Application Wizard to create a new IP address resource, or you can perform the desired tasks by manually creating the resources.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
