Keyboard Properties Dialog Box Does Not Open When You Click Shortcut (281907)

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click the Start menu shortcut to Keyboard Properties in the IntelliType Pro software, the Properties dialog box may not open.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you installed the IntelliType Pro software on a Windows operating system for a language that the IntelliType Pro software does not support.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, change the Start menu shortcut link for IntelliType Pro to reflect the correct language for the word "keyboard".
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Hardware, point to Keyboard, and then right-click IntelliType Pro.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. On the Shortcut tab, in the Target line, change the string that refers to "keyboard" to the appropriate string in your language. For example, if you are using the Danish version of the Microsoft Windows NT operating system (which is a language that the IntelliType Pro software does not support), change the string from:

    C:\WINNT\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL main.cpl keyboard

    to

    C:\WINNT\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL main.cpl toetsenbord

  4. Click OK.

Setup automatically selects the language version for its software based on the operating system language. If the IntelliType Pro software does not support the operating system language, the English version of the IntelliType Pro software is installed.

Because certain international versions of the Windows operating system identify "keyboard" in their local language (for example, "toetsenbord" is Danish for "keyboard"), the IntelliType Pro Start menu shortcut to Keyboard Properties does not work correctly when the English version of the IntelliType Pro software is installed on these operating systems. This does not affect the functionality of the keyboard or the IntelliType Pro software, and the Keyboard Properties dialog box is still available through the Control Panel (click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Keyboard).
