SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to join an online conference you may receive the following error message:
You are not authorized to view this page.
You might not have permissions to view this directory or page using the credentials you supplied.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the following two registry keys have been changed or are missing:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeWEB\Applications\Conferencing

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeWEB\Applications\ConferencingPrivate

RESOLUTION

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To resolve this problem, manually restore the following two registry keys by importing them from an Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server computer that is not experiencing this problem:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeWEB\Applications\Conferencing

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeWEB\Applications\ConferencingPrivate

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 1.
