  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server

This article was previously published under Q281889

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server to Service Pack 1, conferencing participants may receive the following error message when the participants attempt to join conferences:
Data Conferencing
Start the T.120 client and click "OK" to be invited to the conference

Video Conferencing
Line: 26
Char: 9
Error: object doesn't support this property or method
Code: 0
Url: http://server_name/conferencing/xipconf.asp?DS=15&sdp://dynamically_generated_meeting_ID

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the participant does not have the appropriate rights to download and install ActiveX controls locally.

When you upgrade Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server, the ActiveX control signatures are upgraded. These ActiveX controls are used as embedded objects in the conference Web page, to provide the participant with the data or audio and video experience. When a participant joins a conference, the client determines that there is a later version of the ActiveX controls and attempts to download and install the ActiveX controls locally.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following options to enable the proper download and installation of the updated ActiveX controls:
  • Create a logon script that distributes and registers the new ActiveX controls to all of the users.
  • On each computer that needs to download and install the updated ActiveX controls, assign the user account to the Power Users group.
