PRB: Application Center Synchronization of Site Server Site Fails with Event 5047 (281844)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Application Center 2000
  • Microsoft Site Server 3.0

This article was previously published under Q281844

SYMPTOMS

If you use Application Center 2000 to replicate a Web site that uses the Personalization and Membership option of Site Server 3.0, the replication may fail with a 5047 event.

CAUSE

Whenever you add or change the Site Server Membership Server Mapping setting for your Site Server site, Site Server stores new contents paths for your site's custom errors. Unfortunately, it stores the paths with a space preceding the drive letter, which causes Application Center 2000 replication to fail with a 5047 (invalid parameter) event.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you can use the IIS Admin snap-in to remove the leading spaces on the paths:
  1. Open your Site Server site Properties and then click Custom Errors.
  2. Click the HTTP Error entry for 401;1, and then click Edit Properties. Click OK.
  3. Repeat step 2 for 401;2 through 401;5.
NOTE: You must repeat this procedure every time you add a new membership server mapping for the site.
